“At Cancer Control Mission NGO, we are dedicated to promoting women's health and preventing life-threatening diseases. Cervical cancer, one of the most common cancers affecting women, is highly preventable through vaccination and early screening. To combat this silent threat, we are launching a Cervical Cancer Vaccine Drive to ensure more women have access to this life-saving protection.”

Understanding Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer develops in the cells of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. It is primarily caused by persistent infection with human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, including sexual activity. While many HPV infections clear up on their own, some high-risk types can lead to cervical cancer over time.

How Cervical Cancer Affects Women
Cervical cancer progresses silently, often without any noticeable symptoms in its early stages. When symptoms do appear, they may include abnormal vaginal bleeding, which can occur between periods, after intercourse, or post-menopause, as well as pelvic pain, discomfort, and pain during intercourse. Additionally, unusual vaginal discharge may be a sign of the disease. If left undiagnosed and untreated, cervical cancer can spread to other parts of the body, leading to severe health complications and even death. However, early detection through regular screening, such as Pap smears and HPV testing, along with vaccination, can significantly reduce the risk and improve outcomes.

The Role of the HPV Vaccine
The HPV vaccine is a proven and effective way to prevent cervical cancer. It works by protecting against the most common cancer-causing strains of HPV. When given before exposure to the virus, typically between 9 to 26 years of age, it provides long-term immunity and significantly lowers the chances of developing cervical cancer.

Cancer Control Mission’s Vaccine Drive
To make cervical cancer prevention accessible to all, our Cervical Cancer Vaccine Drive will provide free or affordable HPV vaccinations to girls and young women, particularly in underprivileged communities where awareness and access to healthcare are limited. Through this initiative, we aim to: Increase awareness about cervical cancer and its prevention Provide HPV vaccinations to eligible beneficiaries Promote regular screening and early detection efforts Empower communities with the knowledge to make informed health decisions

Why This Initiative Matters

HPV vaccination plays a crucial role in preventing cervical cancer, with the potential to prevent up to 90% of cases. However, many women remain unaware of the risks associated with cervical cancer and the available prevention methods. Spreading awareness is essential to ensure early intervention and protection. Additionally, women from underserved communities often face barriers to accessing preventive healthcare, making it vital to prioritise efforts that ensure equitable access to HPV vaccination and screenings.

Cervical cancer is preventable, and together, we can take a stand against it. Join us in this mission to protect women’s health and save lives!
